I'm already nervous about posting this because I'm getting the vibe that authority is not to be questioned here. However I think some changes need to be made regarding the specificity of some rules due to inconsistent enforcement.

2. No spamming (Is this a certain number of times in a row? How often can the same thing be posted in chat?)
3. No excessive swearing (I know this can be derived from rule 4 of using common sense, but each mod defines excessive swearing differently. Again, we need numbers)
4. Don't be an ass use common sense (Being an ass is a subjective term. Again, this enforcement can vary from mod to mod. The goal is to have clear outlined rules.)
6. Treat everyone with respect (Golden rule, universal.)
10. What admins say goes. Do not argue. (This is a scary point here. A bit nazi like? I can see where this rule might have come from, but if I could delete one rule, it would be this. I know we're playing on your server, we're only guests, but do we really have to be treated like POWs?)
11. Don't use excessive caps. (Numbers again. At what frequency, the whole sentence or one word, how many in a row?)
More specifically I got muted for 1 word in caps followed by one sentence in caps for one hour. Someone says two sentences in caps and no staff or mod blinks an eye. This type of inconsistency is what makes chat not as fun as it could be, and truly degrades the experience on the server if you're someone who likes to chat.

Other important rules:
2. Arguments that are 4+ minutes will be dealt with by an admin (This is what all of the rules should look like. Any mod can understand this the same way. However, when I was having a civil argument about how the staff handles rules, I don't get a warning for any specific rule, I'm just told I can't talk about that here and get muted for ten minutes.)

In closing... I was enjoying this server before I began to learn how the mods and staff handle themselves. Changes need to be made and egos need to be checked. There needs to be clearer guidelines for the mods and staff to follow, otherwise chat truly is soviet Russia. And I'm sure I'll have an eye kept on me for talking about this, and hopefully this thread won't be locked in less than three days.

I would love for people to chime in with their own thoughts and concerns about this subject in a civil, yet uncensored manner.

It is common sense and comes down to the specific situations.

Numbers are just an arbitrary number that will be ignored because it comes down to a case by case basis - given numbers players will just systematically abuse them like they have in the past.

2. Don't spam. Say what's necessary. If you want to sell something or buy something, say it once - then wait.
3. I'm not going to tell you how many fucks or shits you're allowed in any given time frame. Just don't be excessive.
4. Don't be a cunt. It's not hard.
10. Me, Dakota, Jrd and all admins will happily argue with you if you have a genuine point. This rule is regarding when we say "do not talk about this again" or when we make a judgement on a situation. If you want to say that we're running the server like Nazi's, then play somewhere else. I personally wouldn't play somewhere that treated their players like "POW's"
11. Use caps only when necessary, don't be a dumbass and spam caps just for XD memes. You have had many warnings in chat for Caps and had a previous mute. That's why yours was 1 hour, as per the staff guidelines. Caps lock is not cruise control for cool.

This is legitimately the dumbest thread I have read in a long time. If you want to compare our server to Nazism and Soviet Russia, play somewhere else. I strenuously disagree that our staff need to "have their egos checked" If you have any concerns about how a staff issue was handled, make a report on the staff member.

I don't understand why you're saying that you hope that this thread won't be locked in three days, you're making a lot of assumptions based on no evidence what so ever. We have never silenced player's concerns - MCDrugs has been running for over five years, you don't manage that by acting like you describe...But hey, Hitler made it 9 years - so I guess we have a few more. ;)

When the staff/helpers are given rules, they are given an outline of numbers. I agree the players should know the numbers too so that way they can't break rules. But, every staff member is different on leniency. This shouldn't be so, but it does happen. I agree that players should know numbers too:)

The spamming is generally 3-4 lines of chat (most times the same, or similar chat) with few to no other people's chat inbetween. With the caps in most cases comes to 3 or more lines of chat in all caps, either one long sentance or 3 small sentances in caps will probably conclude in a verbal warning. Along with no excessive swearing, it normally comes down to 3ish linea of chat that is mosyly, if not all, swears/insults, but in most cases it comes down to disrespect. Although yes, different people see different things as a problem, chat is still being regulated by staff and players alike and its being held in a civilized manor.

Hello! In regard to your 10 minute mute, you were complaining about the way staff handles players on the server, after being told to stop, and make a report if you didn't like something. This was excessive, and you were told to stop multiple times. It spammed chat, traffic to the server was high, and instead of being able to help new players, all you saw was you flooding the chat with unnecessary arguments. I'm sorry if you feel like that was unjust, but after you were muted, the quality of chat was restored.

That's still a complaint of mine, but that mute I agreed with. The mute I had a problem with was when Yuni muted me for AN HOUR when there were about 30 people online for posting song lyrics. When is anyone muted for AN HOUR? And for song lyrics? Really? No warning either. And that was the first mute I ever received, still fairly new to the server. So its that one incident that still rubs me the wrong way.

You were only muted for 5 minutes; and it was because you were flooding with caps.

You're right Yuni, I'm sorry, you did only mute me for five minutes, but you intended one hour. For four caps words. And you said that that is spam? I'm not mad anymore at this point. Just disappointed and less enthusiastic about chat.

Before I extend to longer punishments, I always check the player's history. If I had made a mistake, you were more than welcome to make a report. I always own up to my mistakes once I've been made aware of making it. I like to check the histories of the player, read over chat for other warnings, etc.. Of course I don't want people to feel silenced or unable to express themselves, but if I do recall during that moment, you had been warned multiple times during that period. I also do recall taking Yuni's word for the mute since they had been dealing with you for the bulk of the time. If there's a mistake here, I apologize and I promise to learn from it.
