Teleported into the wild and killed while afk

So this just happened to me for the second time. I was sitting in my afk pool in my farm world base, and after leaving for a few hours. I come back to find im on the death screen and I see that I am somewhere in the wild. When I go back to spawn everything that was in my inventory is gone and my power is reduced. Why the hell is this happening?
