Well from my perspective, I personally see the contributor rank in two different categories.
1. Contributor ranks 1,2,3 - meant for the sole purpose to show your dedication to the server by paying for the website fees, hence the name contributor. You can receive this title by either donating $5, 10, or 15 for the corresponding ranks.
2. Outstanding Forum Contributor - a title that can be earned by anyone who posts a post that goes towards the greater good cause of the server. Posts should be filled with very useful information and should show an obvious amount of effort put into it. (take note that it is outstanding - sets itself apart from the posts surrounding it) I personally have gotten this title through my Anti-Scamming post, and is awarded at the discretion of the Owners and MCDrugs staff.
