-Why you should read this thread-
This thread's purpose is to provide you with the knowledge necessary to, at the very least, not die within 30 seconds of PVP. It is critical that you read and understand this if you are relatively new to 1.9 PVP, or the Guns plugin. I'll update this when new things come out that will change PVP on the server.

To teach you how to PVP effectively, I'll address some FAQs. Through these questions, you should gain an understanding of how to PVP here on MCDrugs.

*Disclaimer: I will used numbered lists throughout here. These aren't necessarily different methods that I'm listing, just separate ideas related to the same theme. Just read it all.

-FAQ-
  • I've been spam clicking this naked guy for five minutes with a diamond sword, why isn't he dead yet?
It is critical in 1.9 PVP to time your attacks (two hits per second with a sword, one with an axe). If you spam click in 1.9 PVP, you're gonna have a bad time.
  • Why isn't the person I'm fighting dead yet? I've hit them like 50 times and they're eating steak, not god apples WTF?
They aren't dead because in 1.9 PVP, steak can be eaten to restore a large portion of health very quickly
  • Their armor has to be broken by now, I've been fighting them for over 10 minutes!
The "Mending" enchantment on armor in 1.9 allows you and your opponent to throw EXP Bottles on the ground to repair your armor during PVP.
  • Where do I get EXP bottles?!?!
EXP bottles can only be obtained from playershops (Notably, Hrby's shop, located at D1 in the player shops). Or, make them yourself by right clicking an EXP bank sign with empty bottles in your hand. You will need to have a donor rank to use EXP signs.
  • Is there OP armor easily obtainable on MCDrugs like on the other PVP servers I play on?
No, it isn't easily obtainable. While there is armor that is higher than P4, it is very difficult to obtain. P5 can be obtained by using a Prestige Crate key, only obtainable via prestiging from the Rasta rank to the next set of ranks. You can also buy P5 sets, which are commonly sold from player to player for around 500,000 in-game money. P6 is the most valuable item on MCDrugs, with a single piece valued over 15,000,000 each. Currently, there are only a few existing P6 pieces of armor on the server. You don't need to worry about fighting people in P6.
  • What is the best gun to use in PVP? Does it do good damage?
The best gun for use in PVP is the Ak47, which can not only do some good damage to the health of a player in P4 & P5, but also does a huge amount of damage to armor. The best way to shred through someone's armor is to spam the Ak47 at them.
  • My gun is hurting me when I shoot it, WTF?
Do to a weird bug in the gun plugin, your gun will hurt you sometimes if you're too close to the person you are shooting at. Back up a bit, and fire at will. Crouching while you shoot can help prevent this as well.
  • Shields are an awesome feature of 1.9 PVP that surely I should use, right?!?!
No. Shields are shit.
  • What is the best way to kill someone in 1.9 PVP?
Break their armor.
  • What is the best way to break someone's armor in 1.9 PVP?
To break their armor, assuming they know how to PVP in 1.9, you will have to drain them of their EXP bottles. There are a few ways to do this; the gun method, and the MCMMO method.
1.) The gun method simply involves shooting them enough so that they have to mend until they are out of EXP bottles.
2.) The MCMMO method is better, because you don't have to buy as much ammo. For this method you simply buy or manually level up your Swords or Axes MCMMO skills so that they do extra damage to armor. Using this method, you can actually spam click the player to focus your damage to their armor. You won't do much health damage to the player, but you can shred their armor quickly if you have high MCMMO in these skills.

  • What are some common things I'll go against in PVP, and how can I counter them?
1.) Heat Wave: The heat wave is a rare item you'll go against in PVP, but it's deadly. Simply drink a fire resistance potion to avoid the HP damage it does to you, but this won't stop the Heat Wave from shredding your Armor's HP. Be sure to mend while you're being hit with the Heat Wave so that your armor stays at high HP.

2.) Ak47: The Ak47 is something you will often go against. Try to run zig-zag to avoid the shots, and be sure to keep an eye on your armor HP. Also, try to use the guns glitch in your favor. Stay close to your attacker so that their shots will backfire, and attack them with your melee weapon.

3.) P5 armor: To tell if someone is in P5, you will notice them mending less frequently than people in P4. This doesn't really affect how you will fight them, but just be aware that you will have to fight them for a longer period of time to get through their EXP bottles.

4.) Custom Weapons: There are many unique weapons on MCDrugs. If you are getting hit with something that is doing you too much damage, you might just want to bail. Keep some Ender Pearls in your inventory in case you find yourself
out-geared. Be cautious though, as most PVPers will carry Ender Pearls. There are some instances in which escape will be impossible, even with Ender Pearls. Choose your fights wisely, and know when you've been outmatched.

  • I can tell that they are close to dying; what is the best way to finish them off?
Always save some ammo for the final kill. If they start eating golden apples, they are probably almost dead. When you see them take out the golden apples, try to hit them with the Ak47 as much as possible before the apple is eaten. This is a great way to get a kill even before their EXP bottle stock is depleted.
Helpful tips

1.) For the most part, whoever can keep their armor repaired for the longest time will win. However, don't take this to mean that repairing your armor is the most important aspect of 1.9 PVP. If you're just tanking hits nonstop, eating steak, and throwing EXP bottles, you will find yourself dead in a less than 30 minutes. You have to actually hit them. You need to be on offense more than on defense.
2.) Your inventory should be close to full when you go into PVP. Steak, EXP bottles, potions, and ammo should just about fill your inventory. Save a few slots for heads :)
3.) Know your limits. You can win a 4v1 against people who don't know this method, but don't get too cocky with it. If you get multiple people blasting you with AK's even if they are trash at PVP, you run a high risk of death. You can only eat steak and mend so fast.

Example PVP Gear-Up (Note that the heads would be empty slots going into the fight)

SUMMARY
This guide doesn't say everything, but it gives a basic outline of how to last longer than 30 seconds in a PVP fight. There is of course a lot more to it, but you will learn most of it just by getting some experience. 1.9 PVP is all about your gear, and how you use it. As long as you keep an eye on your health and armor, you should be able to do alright for yourself at warp wild or prison. Happy PVPing :)

Thanks for the advise and tips, Forum needs to be advertised more tbh so that more players can read these sorts of threads. Keep em coming! I might make one myself later on.

'One piece of P6 in the entire server' hah, either thats my P6 booties, or theres more than one piece of P6 FYI.

BTW These posts are fucking godly, good job helping out the new players (even some vets) of the server.

Sorry, I meant P6 pieces that players actually have the nuts to wear in pvp ;) (killah, for example, who as far as I know is the only person that actually wears p6)

Can't you get P5 by combining 2 P4s?

Its just the old mcdrugs pack and the new one stacked. The old one adds the 32x32 and the new one gives the cool gun textures. Make sure that the new one is stacked on top of the old one or you'll get the old shitty gun textures

This is really in depth, in my opinion 1.9 pvp takes no skill, as long as you are always well saturated (and fixed armor), you will not die, it's like having a permanent 1.8 God Apple.

Some other things to possibly add to the Guide:
  1. Have Efficieny 5 on your Axe, and dont be afraid to spam.
  2. Use SKULL CRUSHER Ability (mcMMO)
  3. Bring Haste Potions or get a haste pool noodle (or now JRD's love with binding to your weapon)
  4. Hunger/Starvation potions are really useful, but only 3 people on the server currently have enough alchemy to make them
  5. Saturation Potions, won't lose hunger, lasts about 40 seconds, sort of annoying but maybe someone can utilize it better than I did

Some Things I Do (kind of risky):
  1. Bring Yeezy Boost 750's (frost walker + speed Iron boots) SPEED IS REALLY USEFUL IN PVP, annoying to switch back and forth though
  2. Use PROTECTION 3 Unbreaking 4! Not gonna say how I got it, since it is sort of a glitched set, but even using prot 3 unb3 is better, since your set won't break as easily, been using this for a long time
  3. FlashBangs (easy to get as a cop) great for chasing people as they can't sprint for 6 seconds

True enough, however
1. Efficiency has no function in pvp that I am aware of, spamclicking is just a way of shredding armor faster vs doing actual health damage
2. Any potion won't serve as much of an advantage as using the inventory space it takes up to have another EXP bottle stack
