F0r those who are wondering, but too lazy to read my ban appeal, this is why I got banned.
Basically, it started with me on the farm world. My unclaimed base was being attacked, and with a 55 hopper autosmelter claimed, and the attacking faction being neutral, I left my faction, created a new one, and managed to overclaim my autosmelter. Several hours later, I was banned for "Faction hopping", a rule that I never knew existed.
I appealed my ban, and it was shortened from permanent to 14 days. I started arguing with Dakota about the shortened ban, because it was tough for me to know about a rule that I didn't know existed.
Several back and forth messages later, and I showed Dakota my chat logs of me listing the rules page. Faction hopping was only added right before/after my ban.
He decided to call leaving your faction and creating a new one an exploit. Um, wtf?
Spalw backed him up, and locked the appeal.
I was left wondering what the actual fuck just happened
So in a nutshell, I got a perm ban reduced to a 14d temp ban, about a rule I never knew existed, and after I proved that I never knew it was a rule, they called it an exploit and locked the appeal.
In conclusion, leaving your faction and creating a new one to claim land is an exploit.\
EDIT: This is not a ban appeal. Just a rundown on probably the most fucked up ban of all time.
