So you want to become a fisherman? Prepare yourself, then; you've come to the right place.

STEP 1: THE PROPER OUTFIT
If you want to be a pristine fisher, you need the proper getup.
This Sun Hat will protect you from the weather, so that you don't peel while catching those fish.
You can find this item in the Summer Crate at spawn. If you need a key, buy them here!
Next, you'll need a pair of Space Boots. These will protect your feet when you have to embark in the water to get the fish that got snagged on a block. People say Flippers are better, but are Flippers made of gold? Exactly.
You can get the Space Boots from the Armoury Crate at spawn, opened by the Armoury Crate Key!
Finally, a fishing rod is required. Legacy of Chuck is the best choice; however any fishing rod will do.
This fishing rod can be acquired from the Legacy Crate at spawn.
The crate is opened with a Legacy Crate Key!
Optionally, you can have a Sun Sword to protect yourself from the baddies of the night.
This sword can be found from the Summer Crate at spawn, much like the Sun Hat!
The crate is opened with a Summer Crate Key!

STEP 2: The Fisherman's Prerequisites
You have your gear and you have your rod, but first you need to make sure you're profiting.

Because of the fantastic Jobs plugin, we can make money from fishing!
"To join this job, simply type "/jobs join fisherman" in-game.

It's also important to be aware of how MCMMO can affect your fishing.
At first glance, there's a lot of benefits. However, notice that little section that says "Trap"? That means that you have a chance to fish up a trap, such as a live TNT or a splash potion of poison! This is to make sure that you're keeping your eye open for those pesky traps.

STEP 3: Fishing Spots
Some people may want to fish out of spawn, to which I highly recommend against. Not only can traps not actually hurt you in spawn, but this beautiful spawn has WAY too many gorgeous fishing spots to miss out on.
